President Message

7th November 2023

Dear Members and Colleagues,

It is a true honour granted to me by the esteemed senior Margadarshaks and members of TSI, who have given me this opportunity to serve as the President of the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI). TSI has made remarkable progress in the past, and we are committed to furthering the mission to ensure accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare through telemedicine.

Over the past couple of years, we have witnessed the important role of telemedicine in the healthcare ecosystem, especially during challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Telemedicine has proved its mettle in reaching patients in remote areas, providing timely consultations, and enhancing the overall healthcare infrastructure. In light of this, our focus
for the next year will revolve around three key pillars:

1. Education and Training: TSI is dedicated to promoting best practices in telemedicine. We will continue to organize webinars, workshops, and training sessions for our members and healthcare professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills in telemedicine. These efforts aim to bridge the knowledge gap and ensure that telemedicine is conducted safely and effectively.
2. Community Engagement: TSI is committed to fostering a vibrant telemedicine community. Through the multiple State Chapters we will organize seminars, and networking events to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration among telemedicine practitioners. Our goal is to strengthen the telemedicine network in India and create a platform for sharing innovations and experiences.
3. Policy Advocacy: TSI recognizes the importance of supportive policies and regulations for the sustainable growth of telemedicine. We will try to actively engage with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to advocate for favourable policies that promote telemedicine and safeguard patient interests.

Another important area that will need our attention is in‘Telemedicine Research’.  We will encourage and support research in the field of telemedicine to enhance our understanding of its impact on healthcare delivery and outcomes.

As we move forward with these initiatives, I invite each one of you to actively participate, share your insights, and contribute to the growth of telemedicine in India. Together, we can make a significant difference in improving healthcare accessibility and shape the future of healthcare in India through telemedicine.I look forward to a productive and transformative year ahead.

Warm regards,

Dr. Kim Ramasamy,
President, Telemedicine Society of India
